Athletics, also known as Track and Field, is the collective term for a group of athletic events in walking, running, jumping or throwing. Competition in these events is, for the most part, on an individual basis. There are some team sports in athletics such as the relay events and cross country. The world governing body for the sport is the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
