Die Zeit[1] ('The Time') is a German weekly newspaper published nationwide on Thursdays. Founded in 1946 in Hamburg, Die Zeit is the most widely read weekly newspaper in Germany. In the first quarter of 2004 its circulation was 460,000. Among its publishers is the former chancellor of Germany Helmut Schmidt.
