Jens Stoltenberg (born March 16, 1959) is prime minister of Norway and chairman of the Norwegian Labor Party.

Stoltenberg became Member of Parliament in 1991. He became Vice Chairman of the Labor Party in 1992. Stoltenberg was Minister of Industry 1993-1996, and Minister of Finance 1996-1997.

He first became Prime Minister in 2000, but lost the job to Kjell Mangne Bondevik after the disastrous 2001 elections. The left-winged parties regained their majority after the 2005 elections, and Stoltenberg is now leading a coalition between the Labor Party, the Socialist Left Party, and the Center Party.

Jens Stoltenberg is the son of former defense minister and foreign minister Thorvald Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg has a candidatus oeconomices degree (equivalent to somewhere between a master's degree and a PhD) in economics from the University of Oslo.
