Richard Valpy (December 7, 1754 - March 28, 1836) was a English Schoolmaster and father of publisher Abraham John Valpy. Born in Jersey, Valpy was educated in Normandy and Southampton, and completed his education at Pembroke College, Oxford. In 1777 he took his orders, and in 1781 became head master of Reading grammar school, a post which he held for fifty years. He was the author of popular Greek and Latin grammar books.
