National parties
Canada
- Conservative Party of Canada [r]: The current governing party, formed in 2003 by the merger of the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive Conservative Party. [e]
- Liberal Party of Canada [r]: A centre-left political party with roots going back to 1861, before the founding of the Canadian confederation. [e]
United Kingdom
- Labour Party (UK) [r]: The main socialist party in British politics; founded in 1900. [e]
- Liberal Democrats (UK) [r]: Centrist political party which is a merger of the former Liberal Party and the short-lived Social Democrat Party. [e]
- Scottish National Party [r]: Left-leaning party which campaigns for an independent Scotland outside the UK; founded 1934 and formed a minority administration in the Scottish Parliament (2007-2011), then a majority government (since May 2011). [e]
