==Background==
Lance Allred is a historian of the ancient Near East. He has degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Oklahoma, and, most recently, Johns Hopkins University. He doesn't expect to earn any more degrees.


I earned a BA in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and a MA in History from the University of Oklahoma. In 1999, I began working on a PhD at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. My primary research interest is southern Mesopotamia, at the end of the third millennium BCE, the so-called Thirdy Dynasty of Ur. However, in general I am interested in all areas of Mesopotamian language, history, and culture.
He has broad interests in the ancient world, including Egypt, the Levant, and Mesopotamia from the development or writing to the conquests of Alexander. His primary research interest is southern Mesopotamia at the end of the third millennium. He has training in various dialects of Akkadian, Biblical Hebrew, Hittite, and Sumerian.


In the fall 2006, I began postdoctoral work at Cornell University.
