I was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1949, but have lived in Australia since 1950, although I have lived in the UK on two occasions for periods of a year or more. I am married with two adult children.

I completed a Diploma in Engineering (Communications) in 1970, but in 1981 I commenced a career as a professional musician playing fiddle and guitar. By 1988 I had become a small publisher of music and dance resources for schools, a business that still continues. My interests in publishing led me to trade as a freelance graphic designer for some years as well as a music copyist. I have an abiding interest in Apple Macintosh computers and have advanced skills with a number of software packages (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite and Sibelius).

In 2004, I qualified as a Proofreader and Editor with the Australian College of Journalism and since then I have been trading as a freelance editor. I am a current member of the Society of Editors (Queensland).

My hobbies include a lifelong love of history and music. I am presently writing a historical novel set in the time of Saint Columba (Early Medieval period). I have travelled widely throughout my life, and have an undying love of cricket (I am a member of the Gabba Trust in Brisbane). Apart from my interests as a professional musician, I play alto saxophone for a community big band in my spare time.
