::That was a semi-facetious remark, but I can dig up material on Islamic hadithic concepts. Unfortunately, what I have is mostly hard copy. The serious analogy, however, is that the four Hadithic schools, using slightly different methods, had some quite thoughtful approaches to the question: "is it plausible that Muhammed said XXX on date YYY at place ZZZ?"
