The player moves through the levels of the game, beating obstacles to reach the end. There are eight "worlds". In each world, the player scrolls to the end of four levels, with each world ending in a battle with [[Bowser]], the major villan. After the last world's battle with Bowser, the player has rescued [[Princess Toadstool]] and has beaten the game.

Gameplay
