Denis- This page yet has not been recognized as official; by now I had hoped that there would be comments on whether or not this page should fly, but so far I have not heard back from Sanger, or anyone else despite having announced it on the forums (I have not yet sent in a mailing list post). Until then, it is still very "meta" in it's inception. I encourage you to weigh in on the actual utility of this page until it becomes an official community portal.
I did not remove your proposal, I merely commented it out until such time as the above makes this CZ page "real". --Robert W King 11:48, 8 February 2008 (CST)
Templates
I'm not so fond of the plethora of templates. Firstly, I question whether they make it easier. You have to remember the templates and the parameters, while without the template people can just comment and propose right away. Secondly, I think all the boxes and colours are unnecessary and merely distracting. I guess it's a bit personal though. -- Jitse Niesen 12:08, 10 February 2008 (CST)
- You could be right; I might have overengineered. --Robert W King 12:10, 10 February 2008 (CST)
Components/pages of the system
OK, I'm done with my theorizing for now--so here we go!
The first items on CZ:Proposals, and they should be no more than two in number, are: a brief explanation of how the system works (and why it exists), and how to make a proposal. Then (on the same page) there should be the introductory queue. This gives the user everything he needs to start a new proposal all on one page.
There also needs to be a "policy details" page, which I'll put on CZ:Proposals/Policy.
Then there need to be various subpages for different decisionmaking groups.
Then we need to make some of our first actual numbered proposal pages, such as CZ:Proposals/0001, etc.
Well, that's pretty much it! No problemo! --Larry Sanger 08:39, 11 February 2008 (CST)
This means I'm going to gut CZ:Proposals/Guidelines. Sorry, Robert. For most users I simply don't want to have lengthy guidelines, and I want the guidelines to be on the front page. --Larry Sanger 08:44, 11 February 2008 (CST)
- I don't think they're that lengthy; but it's not like you need my permission! --Robert W King 08:58, 11 February 2008 (CST)
- Why do we need to number proposals? It seems more natural to refer to them by their title. I think it should also be mentioned that proposals can be described more extensively on a separate page. Perhaps they even should be; a proposal that can be described and justified in under 100 words is perhaps too trivial. And, as I said on the forums, I think some further explanation of "next step" is crucial. -- Jitse Niesen 12:09, 11 February 2008 (CST)
- "Roger" to all that. I will be expanding/fixing things so that that will all be correct. You seem to be simply correct that a number is not necessary. As long as the titles are short enough, that is. So we'll have to fix that. --Larry Sanger 15:54, 11 February 2008 (CST)
