::I do a number of articles with accented letters, such as Rene Lacoste -- how can I get the acute e onto Rene? Also I do *lots* of footnotes -- I need the <refxxref> thingees handy. Etc. I see in the Forum that someone else has also complained about the symbols no longer working. I myself don't think that the symbols intrude on the page. Please bring them back. Thanks! I am currently working on restoring them via a hide/show Javascript function. But I'm rather new to Javascript, and something's not working. -- ZachPruckowski (Speak to me) 13:34, 8 September 2007 (CDT) | |||

:The hide/show button needs to be double-clicked for some reason: apparently the button's defaulting to "hide" instead of "show", even though I set the content to hide by default. Javascript in monobook.js should work across the board now that Greg and Jason did the upgrade. --ZachPruckowski (Speak to me) 17:23, 28 September 2007 (CDT) |

Sorry, feel free to edit this page further, constables, it's just that we definitely don't need to have all that extra garbage on the edit page for every edit. Let's try to keep things simple. --Larry Sanger 12:55, 29 May 2007 (CDT)
- The thing about placing the special symbols on a separate page is they no longer work. Before, you could highlight your text or place the cursor into the edit window, click the symbol, and in it would go. I placed it because a few science editors wanted an easy way to place them into articles. ---Stephen Ewen 14:10, 29 May 2007 (CDT)
- I do a number of articles with accented letters, such as Rene Lacoste -- how can I get the acute e onto Rene? Also I do *lots* of footnotes -- I need the <refxxref> thingees handy. Etc. I see in the Forum that someone else has also complained about the symbols no longer working. I myself don't think that the symbols intrude on the page. Please bring them back. Thanks! Hide/show
Zach that's great!! Thanks for getting it sorted out. Problem is, I can't remember what i was going to use it for now :) Chris Day (talk) 13:11, 28 September 2007 (CDT)
- The hide/show button needs to be double-clicked for some reason: apparently the button's defaulting to "hide" instead of "show", even though I set the content to hide by default. Javascript in monobook.js should work across the board now that Greg and Jason did the upgrade. --ZachPruckowski (Speak to me) 17:23, 28 September 2007 (CDT)
