question about how to change a title
(Having trouble getting this page to register my additions... hoping someone will see this on the "recent changes.")
I have a question about requesting a title edit. Bruneian Dollar ought not to have "dollar" capitalized. I've been poking around through all the documentation I can find, but cannot figure this one out. Jessica Pierce 21:32, 29 March 2007 (CDT) That can be done by a constable, I can move the page to a new name for you, you will be able to access it using Bruneian dollar, would that suffice? cheers, Robert Tito | Talk 21:49, 29 March 2007 (CDT) For future changes on pages you can mail to constables@citizendium.org and request the move being made. You will get a notification from one of the constables, with hints and or solutions. Just like you did now. cheers, happy editing :) Robert Tito | Talk 22:08, 29 March 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks so much! Sounds great. Another question though, if anyone happens to see it: changes I'm making to my talk page don't seem to be showing up, but they must be, otherwise my previous question wouldn't have been seen nor answered. Am I missing something really obvious here? Jessica Pierce 07:37, 30 March 2007 (CDT) EDIT: Changes I made last night were not showing up, but everything looks normal today, so never mind (thanks!).
Title question?
Hi Jessica, I see you have been having fun. Your first question- edits not showing up is not you, there is a bug in the system that sometimes results in our edits not being seen right away. Sometimes if you go back to the edit screen and just add a space, it will then show up. I'm told it is some sort of cache problem - it doesn't refresh the screen properly. Hopefully it will get fixed soon enough. Your second question about titles- you are correct. According to the CZ:Naming Conventions the title should be in lower case unless it is normally capitalized like last names, etc., particularly if the article deals with a subject to be linked somewhere else, such as a list of types of cars for example. However, we have been lax on articles such as History of the middle ages, where the first word could be capitalized, just not History of the Middle Ages. So you were correct with you Dollar example above.
Hope this helps.. if anything changes, I will try to keep you informed. Meanwhile, just email constables as you did, or leave a message on my talk page and I'll answer personally. --Matt Innis (Talk) 19:51, 4 April 2007 (CDT)
Edits to Literature
Hello, Jessica Pierce, and thanks for your edits to Literature. There's a problem, though, which is that Citizendium is case-sensitive in its aricle titles. Thus, a link to novel will not link to an entry titled Novel. The way to work around this is through "piping," which places the actual name of the entry, followed by the "pipe" character "|", followed by the text you wish to see displayed; thus
One of the most popular forms of literature is the [[Novel|novel]]
will display as
One of the most popular forms of literature is the novel
and will link properly to an entry "Novel" (which doesn't yet exist, but will). If you could modify your edits accordingly, I'd be grateful. Russell Potter
