United States Department of Justice is an agency of the United States Government.[1] The official who heads the Department is the United States Attorney General, a cabinet position, established in 1789.[2]
Among the Department's 59 sub-agencies are[3]:
- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives;
- Drug Enforcement Agency;
- Federal Bureau of Investigation;
- Federal Bureau of Prisons;
- U.S. Marshall Service
