Seeking an expert in Vietnamese naming and culture

Did the system break completely when he was called "Citizen Vinh Thuy", and he had no surname at all? What, literally, does Bao Dai mean? Can one word be considered a surname, or is it simply the ruling name of a monarch? Would Nguyen Bao Dai make more sense? Howard C. Berkowitz 18:44, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

An interesting challenge

Do these issues justify an article on, variously, the Nguyen Dynasty, or perhaps a subsection under Annam, to which Bao Dai should link? See, for example, http://www.imperialvietnam.net/dragonhistory.html Howard C. Berkowitz 19:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Article-deletion proposal

Hello User:Pat Palmer and User:John Leach.

This article was proposed to be deleted as listed in Category: Articles for deleted, March 2024, likely by User:John_Leach.

I refer to Bao Dai in my article Nguyen Ngoc Bich. If Bao Dai is deleted, there would be a missing or inexistent (red link) article.

My guess for the reason to delete Bao Dai was because it dated since 2008 after being imported from Wikipedia, without being updated.

Another reason could be that there was no article that referred to Bao Dai. Now Nguyen Ngoc Bich does refer to Bao Dai, but I need to also refer to external links, such as the Wikipedia article Bao Dai, for more extensive and complete details.

Other articles such as North Vietnam and South Vietnam are similar to Bao Dai in that they were imported from Wikipedia back in 2008, and not updated since. Now the article Nguyen Ngoc Bich refers to these articles.
