Executive Committee

The Executive Committee of the Citizendium is chosen by the Editor-in-Chief from among the most active participants, with approximately equal numbers of editors and authors. Its function is primarily to advise the Editor-in-Chief and to help make "business" decisions which, due to their sensitive nature, cannot be negotiated entirely out in the open. This is not a Board of Directors; we will be adding such a board hopefully in early 2008. Since it is impossible to serve both on the Executive Committee and another major project body, such as the Editorial Council and the Constabulary, this is not necessarily a list of the most "valuable" or "honored" members of the project; indeed, some of our most crucial and useful Citizens are members of the Editorial Council or the Constabulary.

A "focus" subset of the Executive Committee was formed in December 2007, which will soon begin regular Skype chats.

Other groups

PR Group

Other ad hoc groups have come and gone, including an Ad Hoc Licensing Committee (Nov.-Dec. 2007) and an Ad Hoc Steering Committee (late 2006).

Staff

The Citizendium (*.citizendium.org) is run by the Citizendium Foundation, which is almost entirely volunteer-run. Larry Sanger and Jason Potkanski are the only persons who have yet been compensated for their work on the project, and at present, no one is receiving any compensation for their work, including Sanger.

The Citizendium is a project of the Tides Center, but is operationally independent. We will become a fully independent non-profit probably in 2008. We are currently a non-profit in virtue of the fact that we are legally a Tides project.
