Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Ruth Ifcher 02:42, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
A belated welcome
I was delighted to see your starting an article on Vietnamese language. Some time ago, I did a major rewrite of articles related to Vietnam, but more in a politicomilitary context. One of the changes was to create a higher-level Vietnam wars article, not just the Vietnam War. Yes. it does cover Australian forces, although not some of the wilder stories told me by friends who served there. There are articles on earlier aspects of Vietnam, such as the Nguyen Dynasty and Dai Viet.
If you are interested in Vietnam, I'd appreciate your review/comment/edit the work there. Definitely, the language article should be linked in and extended. Definitely, if you read Vietnamese, I'd appreciate opinions on nuances such as dau tranh and doi moi. I do, however, understand Vietnamese cooking pretty well, and really should write an article on nuoc mam, which I happen to like. Howard C. Berkowitz 20:15, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

- Hello. I'm writing mainly to acknowledge your greetings. It is encouraging to get a friendly hello. I had a look at the articles you mentioned.
- I added the Vietnamese spellings for the page titles (as I'm sure you've noticed) because I like to see Vietnamese spellings, they help me pronounce and thus memorise the information. When stripped of their diacritics, the pronunciation of Vietnamese words becomes ambiguous. As for using Vietnamese spellings deeper in the articles, I don't know how much to use them, lest they interfere with the readability or editability of the articles, especially for those who can't read the language.
- I have not seen any content problems in your articles.
